Warm-up: Schneider tops the times
Reigning DTM champion Bernd Schneider showed once again that he is not going to give up his title without a fight by topping the warm-up times ahead of this afternoon's DTM races at the Nurburgring
Schneider lapped his Mercedes CLK in 1m25.432s, a tenth clear of current championship leader Laurent Aiello's Abt Audi TT-R. Marcel Fassler was third quickest in his AMG Merc, but Opel looks set to make it a three-way fight with Timo Scheider (Holzer) and Alain Menu (Euroteam) both in the top five in their Astra V8 Coupes.
Pole sitter Uwe Alzen (AMG Mercedes) was only 10th quickest, while qualifying disastrous duo Matthias Ekstrom, who starts last in his Abt Audi, and Jean Alesi, who will line up 18th, were seventh and eighth fastest respectively this morning (Sunday).
Racing begins with the qualification event at 13.55 local time (12.55 BST).
