Title finale: It's Schneider vs Albers

Mercedes-Benz's Bernd Schneider is banking on home support to spur him on to clinch a record-breaking fourth DTM title at Hockenheim in Germany this weekend

Schneider is just one point ahead of AMG team-mate Christijan Albers going into Sunday's title decider. Albers won the previous race at Zandvoort in Holland to set-up a tense season finale.

"There is not much between us, but Hockenheim is my home race," said Schneider. "I hope my home fans will support me as well as the Zandvoort spectators did for Christijan."

Surprisingly, Albers claimed that victory at Zandvoort was "more important to me than winning the championship". He has scored four race wins to Schneider's two, which means that Christijan only needs to tie with Bernd to take the title.

"Of course, there will be a lot of pressure in Hockenheim," said Albers. "But sometimes a little bit of pressure is good for you."

Mercedes motorsport chief Norbert Haug says there will be no team orders this weekend.

"It's great to come to Hockenheim with the title in our pocket," said Haug. "As before we will let them fight it out - anything can happen."
