Timo Scheider tops second DTM practice at Hockenheim

Timo Scheider went quickest in second practice for this weekend's DTM season finale at Hockenheim, the Abt Audi driver jumping to the head of the timesheets with a lap in the final minute of the session

Scheider had run strongly throughout the 90-minute session, and eventually delivered a benchmark time of 1m32.682s to knock the Phoenix Audi of new champion Martin Tomczyk off the top spot by 0.033s.

Times had improved significantly since the beginning of the session, with track temperatures improving from 2 degrees at the start to 4.4 by the end, and this meant that nearly every driver set their best lap during their last run.

Mattias Ekstrom, the championship's in-form driver following three wins and a second place in the last four races, was third quickest with his Abt team-mates Miguel Molina and Oliver Jarvis behind him.

Christian Vietoris was the best Mercedes driver, the German taking his old-spec Persson car to sixth, ahead of HWA's Jamie Green in a newer C-class.

The top 10 was completed by Edoardo Mortara (Rosberg Audi), Mike Rockenfeller (Abt) and Bruno Spengler (HWA).
