Scheider happy to play team game

Timo Scheider has admitted that he sometimes had to sacrifice his own result for the sake of the Audi team during 2006

However, the German added that he was happy to obey orders from the manufacturer during his first season with them.

"There were some races when I sacrificed a possible better result in support of Audi, but this was clear right from the start," he said.

Scheider spent five years racing for Opel in the DTM, but he moved to the FIA GT championship for 2005 after the manufacturer withdrew from the German-based series.

Returning to DTM with Audi for the 2006 season, the German struggled to settle into his new surroundings early in the year, but he said that he developed a good relationship with the team over the course of the year.

"Quite obviously there were some minor problems in the opening stages of the season as we had to adapt to each other," he said.

"But my relationship with Audi was open and honest from day one - something I experienced for the very first time. Overall, I'm happy with what we achieved."
