Scheider confident despite accident

The two-time champion lost control of his car in the long, flat-out final corner. The Audi hit the outside wall hard and then slid along it, doing a lot of damage in the process.

"The car should be okay," said Scheider. "I will do everything I can to support and motivate my guys and I'm optimistic that we will be okay for the race.

"Right now we have to build the car up again, and then hopefully we can work on getting it right in the warm-up.

"These guys are here because they are good at building these cars, so I'm sure they will do a good job."

Scheider, who will start fourth for the race, added that he felt his car was very competitive before the crash.

"I was aiming for the front row because I was feeling good," he said. "But I just hit one of the while lines in the final corner and got some oversteer.

"The hit with the wall was quite hard, but the angle was not so bad and after that it just went along the wall. It's disappointing, but P4 is still an okay result."
