Round four report

Manuel Reuter moved joint top of the DTM Series championship table by taking a crucial double victory at Oschersleben on Sunday

The Opel driver, who had earlier dominated the first race of the day, repeated that feat in the second race as he cruised home ahead of team-mate Jo Winkelhock by 7.825 seconds.

"I am very happy to have taken Opel's first win of the season and this puts us in good shape for the championship," he said. "The team has worked so hard since the last race at Hockenheim and I think this result is proof of how good a job we have done."

German Marcel Fassler finished third after a strong drive through the field from ninth on the grid, helped in part by a series of accidents and incidents.

The Mercedes driver ran seventh at the end of the opening lap before moving past Pedro Lamy at the third corner on the fourth lap.

He gained another place when Eric Helary spun at the first corner a lap later and, after getting past Thomas Jager on lap eight, he moved up to third when Bernd Schneider crashed out on lap nine.

Jager eventually finished fourth, with Peter Dumbreck putting in a strong drive to claim fifth place at the chequered flag.

There was disappointment for Darren Turner, who had finished 13th in the first race. He was caught up in a series of small accidents at the first corner before colliding with Opel's Christian Menzel and crashing out of the race.
