Rockenfeller leads Audi 1-2-3 on final day of DTM Hockenheim test

Mike Rockenfeller led the way on the final day of DTM pre-season testing, as Audi swept the top three places at Hockenheim

The 2013 champion set the pace on Friday with a 1m33.197s lap set in the morning session.

Rockenfeller was just 0.025 seconds up on stablemate Edoardo Mortara, with Mattias Ekstrom third.

Robert Wickens was the fastest Mercedes driver in fourth place, 0.261s behind Rockenfeller and just ahead of another Audi driver, 2015 championship runner-up Jamie Green.

On the day the DTM announced the brand would receive performance concessions this season, the best BMW driver was Antonio Felix da Costa in sixth, just ahead of Wednesday pacesetter Tom Blomqvist.

Another Audi driver, Timo Scheider topped the slower afternoon session with a time of 1m33.709s.

As all three brands featured inside the top three, BMW's Augusto Fafrus was just 0.048s behind, with Mercedes' Gary Paffett third.

The 2016 season starts at Hockenheim on May 6-8.
