Practice 1: Schneider on the pace
Bernd Schneider has set the pace in the opening practice session for this weekend's DTM race at the Adria circuit in Italy, the first time the series has raced at the circuit
The German, who took victory in the opening race of the season at Hockenheim, lapped the twisty 1.68-mile circuit in 1m12.420s, to out-pace Mercedes team-mate Jean Alesi by 0.102s.
The session marked a show of force by the German manufacturer, which placed six cars in the top ten. Alain Menu was the fastest non-Mercedes car, setting the fourth fastest time in his Opel.
Briton Peter Dumbrack was seventh for Opel, ahead of the fastest Abt Audi driven by Mattias Ekstrom. Reigning champion Laurent Aiello was 12th in his Audi TT.
