New Audi A4 rolls out
The 2004 Audi has been unveiled ahead of the marque's return to the DTM in a works capacity. Frank Biela has had a successful roll-out with the new A4 that will be run by the Joest and Abt teams this season.
"The A4 looks absolutely fantastic and felt good from the word go," said Audi favourite Biela. "I didn't expect anything different: I've been lucky enough, during the 13 years in which I have driven now for Audi, to complete a fair amount of roll-outs. It was business as usual: You sit in and everything works as it should."
"It was our goal to have the new A4 DTM up and running to be able to test extensively before the start of the season", said the Head of Audi Sport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich. "This gives us an advantage as far as time is concerned when compared to our competitors."
Neither Mercedes nor Opel have launched their 2004 cars yet, which are the C-Class and Vectra respectively. All three manufacturers have agreed to make a switch to four-door cars for this year.
"The A4 DTM is therefore a completely new development, only the uprights and the prescribed DTM standard components originate from the Abt-Audi TT-R", said Wolfgang Appel, Audi's Director of Vehicle Engineering.
