McLaren junior de Vries tested with Audi last year and came close to making his DTM debut in place of the injured Mike Rockenfeller at Moscow this season.

The Dutchman is currently completing his rookie Formula 2 season, in which he lies seventh in the championship as the category's second-best newcomer.

De Vries will be joined at the Lausitzring test by Dries Vanthoor, Yann Erlacher, Alex Palou, Ferdinand Habsburg and Jonathan Aberdein.

Laurens Vanthoor's younger brother Dries has spent the past two seasons alongside his sibling in WRT Audi's Blancpain GT Series programme and won the GTE Am class at Le Mans this year.

Before that, the 19-year-old was a race winner in his rookie single-seater season in the Formula Renault Northern European cup.

Ehrlacher, the nephew of four-time WTCC champion Muller, has won a race in his rookie WTCC campaign driving a privately-run Lada, and also has LMP3 prototype experience.

Palou is the other Audi returnee at the test. The Spaniard took part in the 2015 young-driver evaluation after his rookie GP3 campaign.

This season Palou has been a race winner in Japanese F3 and contested Formula V8 3.5 and F2 races.

Habsburg will join his Mercedes- and BMW-contracted F3 rivals Maximilian Gunther and Joel Eriksson in the October 24-26 test, while Aberdein - son of 1990s Audi driver Chris - completes the line-up.

Audi DTM regular Nico Muller will act as a benchmark driver.
