Kristensen cleared to leave hospital

Tom Kristensen has left hospital after remaining there for two days while recovering from his crash at Hockenheim on Sunday

While the Dane had not suffered any serious injuries in the accident, he was kept in hospital to enable doctors to carry out more detailed examinations.

"I'm delighted that I'm finally back home with my family and our new baby boy," said Kristensen.

"I'd like to thank the doctors at the circuit and in the hospital for their professional care and attention."

Kristensen only suffered some bruising in the multiple-car accident on Sunday, but he was in good spirits after leaving the Mannheim University clinic, where he had been since the race.

"I felt extremely well looked after, but it's always time to leave when you start to enjoy hospital food," he added.

The 39-year-old's car will be completely rebuilt for the next round of the DTM at Oschersleben in less than two weeks, but Kristensen will definitely race at the circuit where he has won twice from three starts.

Kristensen's Audi teammate Alexandre Premat remains in hospital, and the Frenchman is expected to be out of action for around 10-12 weeks.
