Green snatches Red Bull Ring DTM pole, points leader di Resta last

Audi's Jamie Green stole pole for Sunday's second DTM race at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, displacing BMW driver Antonio Felix da Costa at the end of qualifying

Having struggled in Saturday's qualifying session and the subsequent race, Green and the rest of the Audi contingent looked far more competitive in Sunday qualifying, and the Briton went second-fastest early on, just 0.084 seconds back from da Costa.

Team Rosberg driver Green then pulled out all of the stops on his second set of runs and, with just a minute to spare, posted a lap of 1m22.680s to clinch pole - his first in the DTM since the Lausitzring round last season - by 0.002s.

Team Schnitzer driver da Costa clung on to second and headed a BMW 2-34, with RMG counterpart Timo Glock at the front of the second row ahead of RBM's Maxime Martin.

Race one podium finisher Edoardo Mortara was fifth, followed by Augusto Farfus.

Saturday winner Marco Wittmann had been on course to set the fastest time on two occasions at the end of the session, but lost time in the final sector on his first lap before heading for the pitlane on his second.

He was forced to settle for 10th as a result, behind Mike Rockenfeller.

While the Audi teams were able to find some speed overnight, the session was a struggle for the Mercedes drivers.

Robert Wickens was the best-placed of the contingent in 15th ahead of Dani Juncadella and Lucas Auer, with Audi's Martin Tomczyk the only driver splitting the trio from the remainder of the Mercedes cars.

Championship leader Paul di Resta was slowest of the 24 cars and will line up at the back of the grid, although his time was only 0.640s down on Green's pole effort.
