Green pleased to score points
Jamie Green was pleased to finish in the points after a difficult weekend at Hockenheim on Sunday
The Mercedes driver has been struggling to understand the new 2007 Mercedes C-Class, and he admitted that he was satisfied to have scored three points for finishing sixth.
"I never thought I'd be happy to finish sixth, but I am at the moment," Green told autosport.com.
"It's been so difficult all weekend, so to get some points is quite a good result considering that I started 13th and I hadn't showed much pace all weekend."
Green was unable to live up to his reputation as a great qualifier on Saturday, and he was unable to get through to the final phase of knockout qualifying.
However, he was still upbeat because last year he had qualified on pole for the season-opener, and retired after one lap with an engine misfire.
"At least I can build on this for the rest of the year," he added. "Last year I was on pole but I scored no points so at least it's better than that."
The British driver admitted that he has a lot of work to do to understand his new car ahead of the second round of the season at Oschersleben in two weeks time.
"I've got to work to understand this car," he said. "My performance in the race was better, and the team will work to get more out of the car for next time."
