GP3 runner-up Dean Stoneman tests Audi's DTM car at Jerez
Dean Stoneman had his first taste of DTM machinery at Jerez this week, as part of the DTM's all-in test at the Spanish circuit
The Briton tested Audi's RS5.
Stoneman, who finished second behind Alex Lynn in this year's GP3 Series, was joined in the test by Italians Marco Mapelli and Antonio Giovinazzi, Spaniard Alex Palou, 2013 Porsche Supercup champion Nicki Thiim, and Belgian Laurens Vanthoor.
Mapelli and Vanthoor are both part of Audi's GT programme, while Giovinazzi raced a Volkswagen-powered Carlin entry to sixth in this year's FIA European Formula 3 Championship.
Palou finished third in the 2014 Euroformula Open.
Regular Audi DTM driver Miguel Molina was on hand to help the rookies, while Nico Muller and Mattias Ekstrom were also in action.
AUTOSPORT understands that Tom Blomqvist and Toro Rosso Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen were both set to be invited to the test by Audi thanks to being the best two VW-powered runners in European F3 this year, but Verstappen was absent, while Blomqvist tested the BMW M4 at Jerez instead.
