DTM free practice two: Modena in control
Stefano Modena's Opel Astra was fastest in the second free practice session for tomorrow's DTM Sachsenring double-header
The Italian posted a time of 1m19.992s in his Opel Euroteam entry, ahead of Bernd Schneider's Mercedes (1m20.150s). The German, who leads the DTM points after six races, set his time despite not turning a wheel in the first session after mechanical problems.
Modena is racing under a suspended penalty after running with unmarked brake discs at the recent Nurburgring test. Should he commit another technical infringement, he will be forced to start at the back for two races. The penalty remains in place for the rest of the season.
Opel and Mercedes shared the top six fastest times between them, with the Opels of Michael Bartels and Uwe Alzen third and fourth and Marcel Fassler and Klaus Ludwig fifth and sixth for Mercedes.
Britons Peter Dumbreck and Darren Turner slipped to ninth and 16th respectively.
Qualifying takes place at 1300 BST.
