Albers, Hakkinen to Hold 'Face Off'
2003 DTM series runner-up and Minardi F1 driver Christijan Albers will make a guest appearence at the DTM round in Zandvoort in two weeks, in a special 'face-off' with former F1 World Champion Mika Hakkinen
Albers and Hakkinen will take part in a crowd competition titled 'F1 versus DTM', with Albers running five laps in a Minardi Formula One car, while Mika Hakkinen will follow suit with five laps in his Mercedes DTM car. Fans attending the event will then be invited to guess difference between the best lap times of each car type.
The event was announced today in a press conference in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and organisers said the five fans who will make the closest estimate will win a drive with Albers in a two-seater Mercedes DTM car, around the track of Zandvoort.
I'm really looking forward to giving the Zandvoort circuit maximum attack with my Minardi Cosworth in front of all the fans," Albers said. "It will also be a lot of fun to be back behind the wheel of a DTM car again.
"I learned a lot while I was in the Series, and I'm sure it helped make the transition to Formula One relatively straightforward - they may have roofs on them and the wheels may be covered, but they are definitely real race cars."
The event will be held on August 28th.
