Turkish team to race full-time in '07
Arkas Racing have confirmed that they will compete full-time in this year's British Touring Car Championship
The Turkish outfit will be led by former Turkish touring car champion Erkut Kizilirmak, who competed in two rounds of the series last year in a VX Racing Vauxhall Astra.
Yalcin Arsan, marketing director for Arkas, said: "2007 will be a year of evolution for us but we are looking to progress quickly. We are putting a solid support structure in place."
Arsan added that the team are hoping to get a British driver into their second car to help them get up to speed.
Kizilirmak is excited about joining the BTCC after getting a taste for the series last year.
"I stopped competing in Turkey halfway through last year in order to start racing in the BTCC," he said. "I've never been in a more exciting environment in my whole racing career."
The team have acquired three Vauxhall Astras from VX Racing as the works team prepare to use the Vectra model this year, but they will be supporting Arkas as they adapt to the BTCC.
The operation will be run by Tech-Speed Motorsport, who have previous experience in the British Series.
