Turkington narrowly wins race two
Colin Turkington has claimed victory in race two at Oulton Park by just 0.046 of a second over Fabrizio Giovanardi
Championship leader Fabrizio Giovanardi was putting the Team RAC driver under immense pressure through the final two laps of an incident-packed race. The Italian made a last-gasp bid to get past him across the line, but couldn't quite manage it.
Nevertheless, Giovanardi has extended his title lead over Jason Plato, who finished fifth. "I did not want to think about the championship, I wanted to try and win," said Giovanardi.
Independent racer Mike Jordan, in an older BTC-spec Honda Integra, rounded out the podium finishers in third place after some exciting dices with Matt Neal and Mat Jackson.
Most of the race, which took place in wet conditions, was spent under the safety car after a pair of separate incidents at the first corner.
Meanwhile, race one winner Gordon Shedden ended his race in the tyre barriers early on, after an incident with Plato and Tom Chilton. Adam Jones will start the third and final race of the day ahead of Darren Turner and Mat Jackson.
