Third Team Dynamics Honda Civic withdrawn with immediate effect

Series officials issued a statement on Wednesday saying that Team Dynamic's third TOCA BTCC Licence has now reverted to the championship bosses.

The TBL, which had been loaned to the team, will now be reallocated to another BTCC team from Thruxton onwards. Details of the new team which will use the licence will be revealed shortly.

The TOCA statement said: "The Administrator has agreed to the withdrawal from the remainder of the 2016 Championship of Car Number 57 (Andy Neate, Halfords Yuasa Racing) and has subsequently recalled the loan TBL associated with that entry.

"The loaned TBL shall be re-allocated from the Thruxton meeting, to another team/entry for the rest of the season - details of which will be announced in due course."

NEATE NO LONGER ABLE TO 'COMMIT FULLY'

Neate issued a statement in response afterwards on Wednesday evening, saying he could no longer fully commit to the project.

The 41-year-old, who has previously raced for Arena Motorsport, West Surrey Racing and Triple Eight in the BTCC, said his focus was now on the career of his son, Aiden, who scored his first podium in Formula Kart Stars at Buckmore Park last weekend.

"While the guys at Honda and Dynamics have been great, your heart has got to be in something to commit fully," he said.

"With so much going on, my lack of full commitment and focus on the job isn't the best way forward for me or such a great team as Honda Dynamics.

"I'm going to enjoy watching my little man take the reins now. I got so much joy watching him get his first British podium last weekend [and] I knew then on top of the disappointment I felt after Brands [the first round of the BTCC season] that's what it's about now.

"I've had my fill over the years, broken a few bones and walked away with my life just about thankfully; I did OK. But it's over to my little man now, he'll do far much better than I ever did.

"Best of luck to Matt and Flash and Honda, great drivers and an awesome team. I'm sure they will bring home the trophy this year."

The second round of the championship takes place at Donington Park this weekend.
