Rydell dominates Donington qualifying

The Mondeo Racing team proved it had the best car around the Leicestershire circuit by scoring a 1-2-3 in both sessions, with Anthony Reid in second spot for the Sprint race, and Alain Menu securing that spot for the feature.

"It's a great feeling to have two pole positions," said Rydell, after qualifying, yesterday. "I'm very pleased to see Ford 1-2-3 for both races. I feel very confident for tomorrow; the team should have two really good races as long as everything goes well."

Ford opened its account at Brands Hatch two weeks ago, with Vauxhall's Rickard Rydell taking another victory. However, Vauxhall appeared less well prepared for rounds 3 and 4, with the Vectras in 7th, 8th and 9th for both races - behind Ford's Mondeos and the works Honda Accords.

Peter Kox steps in for the concussed James Thompson, and qualified sixth for the sprint and the feature.

Alan Morrison won pole for both rounds in class B, whilst Colin Blair and Matt Neal took top honours in Independent qualifying - Matt Neal was put to the back of the grid in the sprint due to a ride height infringement.
