Onslow-Cole sets sights on title
Tom Onslow-Cole believes he can now battle for the British Touring Car Championship after his double win at Thruxton last time out
The 21-year-old Vauxhall driver leapt up to third place in the championship at the Hampshire circuit and now trails his team-mate Fabrizio Giovanardi by 27 points and Jason Plato by three.
Despite only being in his second year of BTCC competition, he already thinks the title is well within his grasp.
Onslow-Cole said: "I had a fantastic weekend at Thruxton and following my two wins, I feel I'm ready to challenge for the BTCC Drivers' title."
The championship reaches its halfway point at Croft this season in what is the last round before the six-week summer break.
Onslow-Cole will carry 27 kilos of success ballast at Croft - the first time he has had weight on his car all season.
While that might rule him out of fighting for a third straight pole position, he has targeted at least two top-three finishes as his aim for the weekend.
"Croft should be another good weekend for us," he added. "I had one podium there last year and I know I can definitely improve on that."
