Onslow-Cole sets pace at Donington
Tom Onslow-Cole set the pace in the opening free practice session for this weekend's British Touring Car Championship round at Donington Park
The 20-year-old Vauxhall driver, who had been quick throughout the 40-minute session, lapped the circuit in 1:12.544 with 90 seconds remaining to knock Gordon Shedden's Team Halfords Honda off the top spot by 0.109 seconds.
Reigning champion Fabrizio Giovanardi was third in the second of the Vauxhalls, while Jason Plato and Darren Turner completed the top five in the two works SEAT Leon TDIs.
Matt Neal's Vauxhall and Tom Chilton's Halfords Honda were next up with Mat Jackson the best BMW driver in eighth place for the BMW Dealer UK Team.
Colin Turkington's Team RAC BMW and Matt Allison's Robertshaw Chevrolet completed the top 10 with Andrew Jordan 11th and less then a second off the pace in his Eurotech Honda.
Stephen Jelley went off the circuit at the Old Hairpin in his RAC BMW, which suffered only very light front-end damage after being beached in the gravel.
