Muller apologises for clash with Reid

The Frenchman was handed an 11-day suspension for the incident, which occured after the second race of the day. Muller was unhappy after he was hit by Reid at the final corner, and confronted the MG driver in parc ferme afterwards.

"I never did anything like this before, but I'm not perfect," said Muller from his home in France. "What I did was very unprofessional, but I am only human."

"I think I was just very disappointed not to win the race because I had led all the way and my car had been perfect."

Muller added: "I've apologised to Anthony and as we left the circuit we shook hands. I am sure we will be having a drink together in a few races."

Speaking of his 11-day licence suspension Muller said: "I accept this penalty, but it will hurt me a lot. I'm not so strong at Donington, so to lose all that time before qualifying will make it difficult to get results, particularly as the times between all the cars are now so close."

With a 25-point championship lead over James Thompson, it is possible for Muller to win the title in the penultimate round at Donington. But he is not confident it will happen until the last meeting of the year.

"I don't think it will happen at Donington. James is stronger than me there and I'm sure he's going to take points out of me in those two races. I think the title will be decided in the final two rounds at Oulton Park."
