MG expands to three works cars
MG has confirmed that it will run three works cars in this year's British Touring Car Championship, with Colin Turkington joining Anthony Reid and Warren Hughes in the team
The manufacturer's decision to expand to run three works cars follows the lead of Vauxhall and Honda. Turkington moves up to the works squad having raced an MG ZS for Team Atomic Kitten in the Independents Cup class of last year's championship.
"I am extremely excited going in to this season," said Hughes, who finished sixth in last year's championship. "On paper the ingredients are in place to fight for the championship. I'm very encouraged by what I've seen of the 2003 spec MG chassis and engine."
Turkington said: "I'm very pleased to be back driving the MG ZS following some good results last season and I'm confident I can build on my experiences. After recent tests, the car is proving very strong and I feel in a good position to turn in a good performance and some positive results."
