Jason Plato to partner BTCC champion Sutton again in BMR Subaru
Double champion Jason Plato will remain with the BMR Subaru team for the 2018 British Touring Car Championship, alongside reigning title-holder Ash Sutton
Plato, 50, finished 12th in the 2017 standings with just one win while his team-mate took the crown, but says that work done by the team over the winter should give him a shot a regular wins in '18.
"We have looked hard at what was going on last season," Plato said.
"It was a tough year for me - probably my worst. I am a competitive guy, and I was simply not competitive last year through no fault of my own.
"We have some exciting new developments in progress which should see the Subaru Levorgs fighting at the sharp end of the grid yet again. April can't come soon enough."
Plato goes into the 2018 season with 96 BTCC wins to his name.
Warren Scott, BMR Racing team principal, said: "I am pleased to retain Jason in the team for another year and am looking forward to supporting him to his 100 wins as well as his fight for the championship throughout what promises to be an unforgettable year."
Why Honda should have signed Plato
While there has been no official announcement, Team BMR is expected to run three cars this season. Last year it fielded four Subarus for Plato, Sutton, James Cole and Josh Price.
Plato is the 23rd driver signed up to contest the BTCC this season. All 32 entrants licences have been assigned.
