James Cole to race for Team BMR in BTCC in fourth Subaru Levorg
Tin-top racer James Cole has completed the Team BMR British Touring Car Championship line-up for 2016
He will drive a fourth Subaru Levorg alongside former champions Jason Plato and Colin Turkington. Team owner Warren Scott will also race.
Cole, 27, joined the BTCC in 2013 with Team Hard. Last year, he contested a part-season with the Motorbase Performance team at the wheel of a EcoBoost-powered Ford Focus.
The Southport man said that the chance to drive a rear-wheel-drive BTCC car, rather than the front-wheel-drive machines he has used up until this point, would be to his advantage.
Cole has a background in single-seaters. He was the British Formula Ford champion in 2009 before graduating to British F3 and the FIA Formula Two Championship.
"I have had my biggest motorsport successes in rear-wheel-drive cars," said Cole. "This will give me the chance to put all of that knowledge to good use, and I am in the right place to make the most of it.
"I will be racing alongside former champions and there are some of the best engineering brains in the pit lane at Team BMR. Add that in to the fact I am returning to a rear-wheel-drive layout, then I am full of optimism for the season ahead."
