Grapevine: Neal to drive Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
BTCC champion Matt Neal will put in an extra lap of running over his rivals at Brands Hatch this weekend, when he takes to the track in the famous Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
The car, which starred in the 1968 film in which it could fly and drive itself, will be present as part of Neal's team title sponsor Halfords' 100th birthday celebrations.
Neal's parade lap in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will take place on Sunday.
"I don't think this breaks the BTCC testing restrictions," joked Neal. "Certainly, the speeds will be a bit lower than in my Honda Civic race car. But then again, if they allow me to hit the 'fly' button and we take to the air, who knows what extra track knowledge I might gain...
"It's great to have Chitty Chitty Bang Bang coming along. It's a fantastic creation and I'm sure will be hugely popular with the many families who attend on race day.
"I'm really looking forward to my lap - just so long as they don't expect me to carry a parasol like the film's character Truly Scrumptious!"
