Eurotech tests at Brands Hatch

Eurotech drivers Andrew Jordan and Jeff Smith got their British Touring Car Championship seasons underway with a day of testing at Brands Hatch on Tuesday

Jordan, who won twice for his family-run squad last year, completed around 70 laps of the Indy circuit with series rookie Smith overcoming an early spin on a damp surface to complete around 80 tours.

Both drivers were pleased with their day with Jordan especially enthusiastic about the improvements made to the TOCA turbocharged over the winter.

"I'm really pleased with how the day went," Jordan told AUTOSPORT. "It's the first time we've run the TOCA engine with the 2011 updates and it's made a huge difference. The boys at [engine builder] Swindon have really upped their game.

"We spent the day concentrating on making sure the cooling systems were right and not focusing too much on performance, while Jeff just got himself used to the car.

"We'll be back for two days next week as well, when we'll have some new chassis bits to test, so that's the time when we'll start looking at performance and making sure that the car is consistently quick out of the box everywhere."

Also on-track at Brands was the prototype NGTC Toyota Avensis, run on behalf of series organiser TOCA by GPR Motorsport. GT racer Matt Griffin was behind the wheel.
