Chilton: next races critical to title
Tom Chilton believes the forthcoming Croft meeting will be crucial to his championship hopes
The Vauxhall driver is currently third in the standings, but is now 39 points behind series leader Jason Plato, who has a nine point lead over Chilton's teammate Fabrizio Giovanardi.
"I really need to pull something out of the bag at Croft," said Chilton.
"I don't want Jason and Fabrizio getting much further away as we get into what is a critical stage of the season."
Chilton revealed that he would receive a new chassis for Croft, and hopes that this would allow him to get back on terms with Giovanardi.
"I was a bit confused leaving Thruxton last time out because my car had been as good as Fabrizio's over the first few laps but then just seemed to lose a bit of performance," he said.
"But I've got a new chassis coming for Croft. If it gives me that last little drop of performance then I'll be on fire."
Giovanardi has taken four wins from the last two meetings to close in on Plato in the championship battle, while Chilton has finished on the podium four times this season but hasn't won since joining Vauxhall at the start of 2006.
