Boardman returns to BTCC

Tom Boardman will return to the British Touring Car Championship this season

The former British and Spanish SEAT Cupra Cup champion will drive the same Leon TFSI that he raced in the world championship last year.

His car will be prepared by Special Tuning UK, which ran him in a joint project with SUNRED Engineering last season.

"Although the decision to contest the BTCC came quite late, I'm really looking forward to 2010 as I have missed racing in the UK for a few years now," said Boardman.

"It's going to be difficult, with the number of experienced drivers that will continue in the BTCC this year, but we have set our targets high."

Although Boardman has previously raced Peugeot and BMW machinery in the short-lived BTC production class in 2001-02, this season will mark his debut in the full championship class.

Special Tuning UK is aiming to run a second Leon this season and expects to sign a driver within the next few weeks.
