BMR BTCC team could call-up Alain Menu for Brands Hatch finale

Two-time British Touring Car champion Alain Menu could return to the series for the Brands Hatch finale as a stand-in for Team BMR boss Warren Scott

Owner-driver Scott missed the races at Silverstone last weekend after fracturing two vertebrae when he crashed in the opening practice session.

It has ruled him out of the finale at Brands on October 10-11 and now Scott has targeted Menu, who drove for BMR last season and is the boss's driver coach, as his replacement.

"We know we have got to put someone in there to maintain our licence to complete, and preferably for me it would be Alain," said Scott.

"He knows the car well and he knows what we have been doing this year to make it better and he could certainly take it to the front.

"And, who knows, it might help [Team BMR's] Jason [Plato] in the fight for the title, too.

"We have got to do what is right for the team."

Scott crashed nose-first into a concrete barrier on the exit of Copse in FP1, and says it will take him six weeks to recover from his injury, having returned to the circuit on Sunday in a body brace.

"At first, I couldn't breathe and I couldn't feel my legs to start with, which was really quite worrying," he added.

"That feeling came back fairly quickly but because I couldn't breathe, I couldn't control the pain because I couldn't breathe in deeply enough.

"I felt a bit claustrophobic, but the marshals and medical staff were absolutely fantastic. I should be right in six weeks."
