AmD Racing withdraws Ollie Jackson's Volkswagen from two BTCC races at Donington

British Touring Car team boss Shaun Hollamby has withdrawn his entry at Donington Park in order to ensure his AmD Volkswagen Golf can compete at Thruxton in two weeks' time

AmD Racing withdraws Ollie Jackson's Volkswagen from two BTCC races at Donington

Ollie Jackson suffered engine problems during free practice yesterday and a new untested Lehmann unit was fitted to the Golf overnight. But problems with the engine mapping forced the team to withdraw the car ahead of race two.

"Normally we'd go racing, but there is evidence we could do damage and if the engine went we'd be stuffed for Thruxton," said Hollamby.

"The old engine is worn out - it did all of last season. We'll put the new one on the rolling road and sort the mapping."

Hollamby believes the turbocharged S2000 Golf can move forward. "The car's got more potential and the boost equalisation [set to kick in for Thruxton] should help us," he added.
