AmD Milltek to support Jake Hill
British Touring Car squad AmD Milltek has signed Ginetta racer Jake Hill to be its junior driver
The Volkswagen Golf squad took its first BTCC points at the last round at Donington Park, with Tom Onlsow-Cole at the wheel.
Now the team will assist Hill's Ginetta GT Supercup campaign, and give him the chance to test the Golf at the end of the season.
Team boss Shaun Hollamby said: "We're a young team and are working very much with a long-term view, and working with a quick young driver like Tom has reinforced our opinion that it's exactly what we want as a team.
"Jake has really impressed us with his speed in [the BTCC-supporting] Juniors, and now stepping up and winning in a 300bhp G50 shows he can adapt superbly." Hollamby did not rule out the possibility of the 17-year- old racing for the squad in the BTCC next season.
"We will get him some experience of driving the Golf this year at some point and he will spend time working with the team at race meetings, learning how the weekend works," he said.
"It would be great to see him win the G50 class and then maybe move up into the BTCC with us next year."
Hill added: "The BTCC is where I'd love to be racing so to have this tie up with such an exciting team as AmD Milltek Racing is fantastic!
"I'm looking forward to being part of the team, and am really grateful to Shaun and the guys for their help in getting me out racing too."
