Reigning British and European truck racing champion Stuart Oliver will join the independents class of the British Touring Car Championship this season.
Oliver, who has seven titles in truck racing, will make the switch to cars to partner Chris Stockton at BTC Racing in a Lexus IS200.
"I've achieved everything there is to achieve in ten years of truck racing," said the 44-year-old, "so I'm looking for a new challenge, and it doesn't come much bigger than the BTCC.
"I think the discipline and race craft will be similar. I'm used to a bit of rubbing and squeezing through some tight gaps, now I'll just be doing it two metres closer to the ground."
Stockton, who is also part owner of the team, added: "The signing of a driver with Stuart's experience is exciting news. I'm looking forward to partnering him and seeing what we can achieve."
