Nick Tandy has tested a British Touring Car NGTC machine for the first time at Brands Hatch, driving a Motorbase Ford Focus.
The factory Porsche GT racer has previously competed in the Carrera Cup with the squad, which has had a difficult season in the BTCC so far in 2013.
Team boss David Bartrum now hopes to run the 28-year-old former McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award finalist and British Formula 3 race winner in the official TOCA test at Snetterton next week.
"This is to get him used to the car for Tuesday at Snetterton," said Bartrum after Tandy's first Brands run. "We'll throw him out there with everyone else.
"We think the car is good now so if he can't sort it out in three days I give up!"
Tandy is driving the Focus raced by Michael Caine at Croft last month and is likely to share the Snetterton running with the reigning British GT champion.
AUTOSPORT understands Porsche has given its permission for the tests and Bartrum confirmed there is a chance Tandy could race the car this season, alongside regular drivers Mat Jackson and Aron Smith.
"Several race outings are not ruled out," he added.
