Tech-Speed Motorsport is set to return to the British Touring Car Championship with a turbocharged version of its Chevrolet Cruze.
The team ran Paul O'Neill and John George last year, but was unable to put a deal together for the start of 2012.
Now Marvin Humphries' squad will run 22-year-old Production Touring Car Trophy racewinner Joe Girling in the Cruze previously driven by George. The plan is to give Girling his debut at one of the remaining 2012 rounds prior to a full assault next year.
The car will be powered by a Vauxhall-based turbo built by Courtenay Sport and developed by Neil Brown Engineering.
Girling, who has been coached by treble BTCC champion Matt Neal, said: "Touring cars has always been the aim and having Matt coaching me made me want to do it more and more.
"Tech-Speed is a nice set of people and they helped Paul O'Neill a lot.
"NGTC is an expensive way for me to go at this stage and the Chevy is a reliable car and a competitive chassis. I want to go out there in a proven package."
Girling hopes to start testing the car soon and is likely to appear at either the Silverstone or Brands Hatch round.
