Stefan Wilson has won the prestigious McLaren Autosport BRDC Award at Sunday evening's Autosport Awards in London.
The 18-year-old, younger brother to Champ Car racer Justin Wilson, was one of six drivers nominated for the award. The drivers were assessed for two days at Snetterton in November.
"This is the first time in my life that I have been speechless," said Wilson. "I got to drive some amazing cars in the test, but to win the award is amazing."
Wilson added that he felt the achievement separated him from his older brother, who is a former nominee for the award.
"It's great for me, it's going to separate me from my brother," he said. "It gives me my own identity, and I can get one over him!"
The Formula Palmer Audi race winner finished by stating that he hopes to follow in the footsteps of Lewis Hamilton by getting all the way to Formula One.
"Lewis is a great inspiration," he added. "What he has done is great for all young British drivers.
"He has proved what you can achieve, and I want to get to that stage. F1 is the highest level of motorsport, and I'm sure with the right support I can get there one day."
Wilson joins the likes of David Coulthard, Jenson Button, and Anthony Davidson as a winner of the award.
