Formula 3 graduates set for post-season Auto GP Jerez test

Several Formula 3 graduates will test Auto GP machinery at the championship's official post-season test at Jerez, which starts on Monday

Ghinzani Motorsport has confirmed 23-year-old Australian Jordan Oon, who lies fourth in his domestic F3 series with a round to go, for the two-day test.

"It will be the first time for me with a 550-horsepower car," said Oon, who beat highly-rated Formula Renault racer Oscar Tunjo to a win in Formula BMW Pacific in 2010.

"I'm also very excited to work with Ghinzani Motorsport, one of the most successful teams in Formula 3 and Formula 3000."

Italian Formula Abarth racer Michele Beretta will also drive for Ghinzani.

Zele Racing will field the top two drivers in the European F3 Open's secondary 'Copa' division; Slovak Richard Gonda and Briton Cameron Twynham.

"Testing at Jerez is the best possible way to start planning the 2014 season," said team boss Michael Zele, who ran former F1 drivers Narain Karthikeyan and Christian Klien during 2013.

"We found an agreement with Richard to put him in the seat in Spain and we're curious to see how a driver coming from Formula 3 will adapt.

"We're also delighted to have Cameron - another exciting young talent - to test with us."

Gonda's fellow F3 Open competitor Liam Venter will also be in action at Jerez, after agreeing to test for Virtuosi UK.

The South African will partner experienced Auto GP racer Tamas Pal Kiss. Virtuosi UK's Andy Roche expressed his satisfaction with the blend of youth and experience.

"Liam Venter's rapid progress in Motorsport has been inspiring, he has learnt such a lot this year in the F3 European Open, so I am convinced he will go well in the Auto GP tests at Jerez," said Roche.

"He is still only 18 and ticks all the boxes. We are also really happy to be running Tamas, he has shown great potential this year and we feel that he will be a great asset to the team."

Ibiza Racing will run five drivers at the test. An agreement between Italy's motorsport federation and Auto GP organiser Enzo Coloni has placed new Formula Abarth champion Alessio Rovera at the team.

The team will also field the experienced Sergio Campana, who was third in this year's Auto GP standings with Ibiza, Venezuelan Valeria Carballo, Puerto Rican Ricardo Vera and Brazilian Fernando Croce.

Super Nova, which ran Vittorio Ghirelli to this year's title, will field Michela Cerruti at Jerez.
