Motoyama joins DeltaWing line-up for Le Mans 24 Hours

Motoyama joins DeltaWing line-upThree-time Super GT champion Satoshi Motoyama is to return to the Le Mans 24 Hours after an absence of 12 years at the wheel of the Nissan DeltaWing.

Nissan-contracted Motoyama will share the lightweight DeltaWing prototype with Michael Krumm, with whom he is racing in Super GT this year, and Marino Franchitti at Le Mans on June 16/17.

The Japanese driver is due to get his first taste of the car at Snetterton today.

Motoyama said: "I am very excited about joining the Nissan DeltaWing project and looking forward to driving the car at Le Mans, and showing everyone what it can do."

Nissan Europe general manager Darren Cox said: "Satoshi is a superstar in Japan, so for Nissan to put him in the car proves the international recognition within the company for what has so far been a European-led programme."

Motoyama raced with Nissan factory teams in 1998 and 1999. He drove a R390 GT1 car to 10th place in '98 and did not finish at the wheel of the R391 prototype the following year.
