Franchitti aiming for first victory of 2000
Dario Franchitti is aiming for his first victory of the season after qualifying on the front row for the Miller Lite 225 at the Milwaukee Mile
The Team KOOL Green driver was the pre-season title favourite but his winter testing programme was severely disrupted by a crash at Homestead that left him with head and pelvic injuries.
Franchitti's best result of the season so far has been his second place at Motegi, but at Nazareth last weekend he crashed out at the start. He is currently 11th in the championship.
"It's nice to be up front again after such a dreadful beginning to the season," he said. "Second is a good spot to start, you don't have to pass 20 people to get to the front...
"I'm going to push very hard. I'm going to push whoever's up front."
His title rival from 1999, Juan Montoya starts narrowly ahead of Franchitti on the inside of the front row. Montoya has suffered a similarly unlucky start to his season and is only two points ahead of the Scot in the CART championship.
