Second IndyCar practice at Long Beach washed out due to bad weather

Heavy rain caused a wash-out of Friday's second IndyCar practice session at Long Beach.
A thunderstorm shortly before the session was due to begin was followed by showers throughout the hour that had been allocated for running, meaning that almost none of the drivers left the pitlane.
The only exceptions were Ganassi duo Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon, both of whom had sat out the morning session due to a change to the turbos on their Honda engines. Franchitti completed a single installation lap, but Dixon's attempts to do the same ended in the barriers when the New Zealander was caught out by standing water.
"I just aquaplaned out there," he said. "I saw a puddle and thought it was really no big deal. I was waiting for the tyres to come up to temperature and asked the team if I should come into the pitlane. Before I even had the chance, I hit the puddle and couldn't turn.
The weather is forecast to be clear and dry for the remainder of the weekend.
