Benetton disappointed with qualifying
After a bright performance in practice, the Benetton team was left perplexed and disappointed after qualifying in 8th and 12th places
"It's frustrating because I was confident here yesterday and this morning and expected to qualify much higher," claimed Fisichella.
"The circuit was very different to this morning and as well as the understeer, I had quite a bit of oversteer too," he explained.
"The car was quite nervous and I couldn't push as hard as I wanted to."
Alex Wurz, who once again will line up behind his team mate, also felt the session went to waste:
"I got caught going in a bit of traffic," said the Austrian, describing his final run. "I had to use the dirty line, and my tyres picked up some dirt and I hit the barrier going into the swimming pool section."
"I'm obviously disappointed because my split times were so good so I know I could have pulled up a few places."
However, technical director Pat Symonds put the session in perspective, pointing out that the starting places were still better than Benetton have come to expect.
"After this morning, we certainly expected to qualify better, even though eighth and twelfth are relatively good positions compared to some of our recent qualifying sessions," he acknowledged.
"In Monte Carlo, anything can happen in the race, so starting from the fourth row is not so bad," said team boss Flavio Briatore.
