Penske's Helio Castroneves insisted that it is too early to start thinking of the IndyCar title, despite holding on to his points lead with a third place in Sunday's second round at Barber Motorsports Park.
The three-time Indianapolis 500 winner, who was victorious in last weekend's season-opener in St Petersburg, currently has a two-point advantage over Ganassi's Scott Dixon, but he said that his focus is entirely on the next race in Long Beach.
"I'm not thinking about [the championship] right now," he said. "I'm thinking the big picture. For Long Beach we're really looking to have a better result, two spots better. I'm thinking one race at a time, and that's what we're going to be doing. But I'm happy."
Castroneves came into this year off the back of the worst season of his career, which ended with him 11th in the standings. He finished runner-up in the points in 2002 and '08.
