Sergey Sirotkin set the pace in the opening Auto GP free practice session at Valencia.
The Russian driver, who is also taking part in the Italian Formula 3 round at the same circuit this weekend, lapped the Spanish circuit in 1m24.522s to put himself on top, and said that switching cars repeatedly was no problem.
"I thought jumping from the F3 to the Auto GP car would have been more difficult, but my feeling with the Auto GP Lola is really good. So turning back to the right reference points on the track was easy," the teenager said.
Super Nova's Victor Guerin was just over 0.2s slower than Sirotkin with Manor MP's Daniel de Jong and championship leader Pal Varhaug (Virtuosi UK) completing the top four.
Sergio Campana's MLR 71 entry and Antonio Spavone's Euronova car both ended up ahead of Monza race-winner Adrian Quaife Hobbs, who was seventh in his Super Nova car a day after topping the pre-race test.
