iSport surprised by 'strange' penalty in Malaysia

iSport team boss Paul Jackson says his squad was surprised to learn that Marcus Ericsson had been penalised following Davide Valsecchi's spectacular accident in the second GP2 race of the weekend at Sepang.
Ericsson and Valsecchi clashed at Turn 5 during Sunday's race, pitching the Italian's DAMS car into a dramatic series of rolls before it came to rest in the gravel trap.
The race stewards deemed that Ericsson was at fault for the accident, handing the Swede a 10-place grid penalty for the next race in Bahrain.
But Jackson said the whole iSport team was surprised by the ruling, especially as Valsecchi, who described the accident as "a pity", didn't express any anger towards Ericsson for the clash.
"Fortunately nobody was hurt, which is the most important thing," said Jackson. "Disappointingly, the stewards attached blame to Marcus and handed him a 10-place grid penalty.
"Interestingly, there was no bad feeling with Davide and he was puzzled by the decision. We will now analyse this incident to try and understand such a strange judgement."
