Championship not won yet says Brawn

Ross Brawn has ruled out Ferrari running away with the World Championship this year

Despite team leader Michael Schumacher winning four of the first six races, the Ferrari Technical Director denied Maranello have built themselves a platform to cruise to the world title that has eluded the team for 20 years.

"The first three races were great for us," he said.

"But McLaren had made some mistakes so we were waiting for them to come back and sure enough they did at Barcelona and Silverstone.

"So I was really pleased see Nurburgring work for us because it lifted everyone a little bit and we reversed the trend of McLaren wins - as I am sure McLaren will try and do to us this weekend.

"I think the whole season will be like that - up and down and a very closely fought season.

"Rubens has settled in very well and Michael is driving very well.

"The car is probably the best one we have produced in the time I have been at Ferrari."

Ferrari won the first three races and McLaren the next two, but Schumacher stopped a Woking revival in its tracks with his first Nurburgring victory for Ferrari two weekends ago.

Some had predicted an easy stroll to title glory for the Marlboro cars after Schumacher stretched his lead back to 18 points. But Brawn insisted: "The season won't be easy by any means."

"Even Nurburgring was a close thing. It is just down to a little detail as to whether McLaren or Ferrari win each race.

"Nurburgring was good for us, so quietly confident without getting complacent."
