Markus Pommer has become the latest driver to announce a move into the Formula 2 Championship this year.
The 21-year-old German finished seventh in German F3 last year, and has tested F2 machinery during the winter. He believes that the right time has come to make the step up.
"For me, F2 is the logical step after Formula 3," he said. "It was great to drive the car during winter testing last year and I was very impressed with the power and features like the overboost.
"I learnt a lot from the two days and grew in confidence from session to session, as well as demonstrating good pace. My goal is to finish in the top three in 2012. I know it's possible as everyone has the same chance."
Pommer is the eighth driver to be confirmed for the championship this year.
