LADA will return to the FIA World Touring Car Championship in 2012 after parent company AVTOVAZ confirmed plans to contest two rounds with the LADA Granta Sport car.
The LADA Sport Team will kick off its participation in the fourth round of the 2012 WTCC calendar, at Budapest's Hungaroring.
LADA will then miss the fifth round at the Salzburgring in Austria, but return for the following round at Estoril at the start of June.
It is reported that the two races will allow AVTOVAZ to evaluate the Granta car's potential as the company weighs up an involvement in 2013 and beyond.
LADA competed in the WTCC in 2008 and 2009, running the LADA 110 and then the LADA Priora. James Thompson delivered the manufacturer's best result with a brace of sixth places at Imola in 2009.
The LADA Granta Sport has been developed for its own one-make cup, while the Russian squad is also working to build an S2000 version of the car.
