Sam Bird heads Trident GP2 line-up for Jerez test

Sam Bird iSport GP2 2011

Sam Bird will drive for Trident during the official GP2 test at Jerez next Thursday.

The 24-year-old Briton was a racewinner in the series with ART in 2009, and finished sixth overall for iSport this year.

He will take over the car that former Arden racer Josef Kral is driving on day one of the test. Julian Leal, who raced for Rapax in GP2 this year, will drive the other car on both days.

"We're really satisfied with our driver line-up for the test at Jerez," said the team's managing director, Luca Zerbini.

"We'll have three really talented drivers, experienced in the series and really familiar with the Dallara-Renault car. That will allow us to complete a huge amount of work in the two days on-track."
