Dillon Battistini will make his IndyCar debut with Conquest Racing at the Kentucky Speedway's Indy 300 next month.
Former Asian Formula 3 champion Battistini contested a full season of Indy Lights with Panther Racing in 2008.
The Briton completed the season with the highest number of victories, including on his oval debut at Miami Homestead and in the prestigious, Indianapolis 500-supporting, Freedom 100.
The success was rewarded with a Panther IndyCar test. Battistini has since made sporadic Indy Lights appearances while pursuing opportunities to make his Indy Car race debut.
Conquest will complete a test at Kentucky on Friday September 23 to help Battistini prepare for the meeting on October 1-2.
"This is just the opportunity I have been working my whole life for," said Battistini. "I am very excited to be driving the #34 Indycar for Conquest Racing at Kentucky and can't wait for the test on Friday. I have to thank Eric Bachelart and the whole team for giving me this chance."
Formula Nippon racer Joao Paulo de Oliveira was the most recent occupant of the seat at Motegi last week.
